Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC) Columns
Supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) is a fast, efficient, and environmentally sustainable technique that uses carbon dioxide as the primary mobile phase. Once mainly applied to chiral SFC separations, it is now equally valuable for achiral applications, delivering high resolution, scalability, and reproducibility across diverse workflows.
Our portfolio of SFC columns includes both chiral and achiral options, with advanced stationary phases designed for speed, efficiency, and reliability. Whether for method screening, analytical separations, or preparative scale-up, each SFC column supports consistent performance and robust results in modern separation science.
Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC) is similar to liquid chromatography; however, it utilizes extreme conditions of temperature and pressure so that the mobile phase (typically carbon dioxide) remains as a supercritical fluid. This results in fast and high efficiency separations due to the lower viscosity and larger diffusion coefficients for the supercritical fluid. Use of liquid carbon dioxide is also considered a green technology as there is limited organic solvent waste.
Element offer a wide range of dedicated chiral and achiral columns for Supercritical Fluid Chromatograph. These columns have been designed with robust column hardware specifically for use on SFC systems.
