Agilent Altura Poroshell 120 PFAS HPLC and Delay Columns
All pictures shown are for illustration purpose only. Actual product may vary.
The Agilent Altura Poroshell 120 PFAS HPLC columns are designed to address the analytical challenges associated with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), particularly ultra-short-chain species that are difficult to retain using conventional reversed phase approaches. Incorporating Poroshell 120 mixed-mode C18 superficially porous particles with advanced Ultra Inert hardware, these columns minimise metal interactions and deliver improved peak symmetry, heightened sensitivity, and consistent reproducibility. The result is reliable retention and separation of highly polar, anionic PFAS, including C1–C3 compounds such as TFA, alongside effective elution of longer-chain analytes up to C18 within a single analytical method.
Designed for compatibility with LC–MS workflows and evolving environmental testing requirements, Altura Poroshell 120 PFAS columns support streamlined dilute-and-shoot methodologies, enabling direct injection of clean aqueous samples without extensive sample preparation. This facilitates reduced consumable use and faster turnaround times while maintaining robust quantitation and low carryover. The inclusion of a dedicated Poroshell PFAS delay column further enhances analytical confidence by trapping background contamination from system components, ensuring accurate trace-level detection. These features enable laboratories to standardise PFAS workflows, extend analytical coverage across C1–C18 species, and implement reproducible, high-performance methods for drinking water and environmental analysis.
Features
- Enhanced Ultra-Short-Chain Retention – Reliably retains and separates C1–C3 PFAS through a novel bonded phase combined with advanced inert hardware
- Reduced Secondary Interactions – Minimises non-specific adsorption and metal interactions using Ultra Inert technology to improve peak shape
- Single-Injection C1–C18 Coverage – Enables comprehensive PFAS analysis across C1–C18 in a single run, eliminating the need for multiple workflows
- High Injection Volume Compatibility – Supports large-volume injections (up to 200 µL) while allowing increased sensitivity without solid phase extraction
- Streamlined Sample Preparation – Facilitates dilute-and-shoot methodologies, reducing solvent consumption, preparation time, and overall operational complexity
- Background Interference Control – Utilises a dedicated PFAS delay column to separate and suppress system-derived contaminants such as TFA and PFBA
- Improved Analytical Robustness – Reduces the need for repeat analyses through better ultra-short-chain retention and effective background management
- Method Compatibility – Features 2.7 µm superficially porous particles that deliver low backpressure, ensuring compatibility with both standard LC and UHPLC systems
