Agilent Prep LC Columns are designed for high loadability to purify milligram to gram quantities of products. Column dimensions are available for most preparative sample types ranging from high throughput samples generated in drug discovery to lab scale prep and up to some pilot scale sample preparation. Preparative sized columns are available in 10–50 mm internal diameters with lengths ranging from 50–250 mm. Columns are available in 5, 7 and 10 µm particle sizes with very high efficiency in every dimension. Analytical size 4.6 mm id Scalar columns are available for method development and optimization prior to scaling up to larger columns. Agilent Prep columns are available in a C18 bonded phase suitable for purification of a wide variety of non-polar and polar compounds. Unbonded silica columns are also available.
Zorbax optimized phases are now available in preparative dimensions as PrepHT columns. These columns are 21.2 mm in diameter with 5 µm and 7 µm particles to provide high resolving power. Zorbax PrepHT columns have a broad range of chemistries, allowing you to maintain selectivity of the analytical phase in your prep separations. Zorbax PrepHT are available in a variety of bonded phases - Eclipse XDB, StableBond, Bonus-RP and Extend-C18 - for optimized resolution and loadability under any conditions.

When using silica-based columns at pH > 6, best column lifetime is obtained at lower temperatures (40 °C max) using low buffer concentrations in the range of 0.01 to 0.02 M. Operating at extreme ends of pH and temperature ranges will have a significant impact on column lifetime.
