Normal Phase Columns from Daicel
Daicel’s traditional coated polysaccharide columns are well recognized for their broad range of applications and remarkable loading capacity. These columns are packed with Daicel’s coated polysaccharide-based chiral stationary phases (CSPs) which are manufactured by physically coating the polysaccharide derivatives onto silica matrices. Due to this manufacturing process, a choice of mobile phase components is typically narrower than with immobilized columns in order to minimize damage to the CSPs. However, the coated columns have a proven track record of performance and with proper care can maintain their performance over years of use.
Analytical and Semi-preparative columns are available with 5 and 10 µm particle sizes. The 5 µm columns (-H series) offer higher resolution for use in more demanding applications than the traditional 10 µm columns. Columns packed with 3 µm CSPs also offer high-speed separations, reduction in analysis time and cost per sample.
Daicel normal phase coated polysaccharide chiral columns are available with a wide range of chiral selectors under the CHIRALPAK and CHIRALCEL brands. They are suitable for normal phase HPLC and SFC applications with dimensions available to suit both analytical and preparative separations.
Daicel coated columns are manufactured by physically coating the polysaccharide derivatives onto silica matrices. Due to this manufacturing process, the solvent range is more limited compared to the immobilised polysaccharide columns.
Available Daicel CHIRALPAK and CHIRALCEL coated polysaccharide columns are:
CHIRALPAK AD – amylose tris (3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate) chiral selector (USP L51)
CHIRALPAK AS – amylose tris (S)-α-methylbenzylcarbamate chiral selector (USP L90)
CHIRALPAK AY – amylose tris (5-chloro-2-methylphenylcarbamate) chiral selector
CHIRALPAK AZ – amylose tris (3-chloro-4-methylphenylcarbamate) chiral selector
CHIRALCEL OA – cellulose triacetate chiral selector
CHIRALCEL OB – cellulose tribenzoate chiral selector
CHIRALCEL OC – cellulose tris (phenylcarbamate) chiral selector (5µm USP L70 )
CHIRALCEL OD – cellulose tris (3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate) chiral selector (USP L40)
CHIRALCEL OF – cellulose tris (4-chlorophenylcarbamate) chiral selector
CHIRALCEL OG – cellulose tris (4-methylphenylcarbamate) chiral selector
CHIRALCEL OJ – cellulose tris (4-methylbenzoate) chiral selector (USP L80)
CHIRALCEL OK – cellulose tricinnamate chiral selector
CHIRALCEL OX – cellulose tris (4-chloro-3-methylphenylcarbamate) chiral selector
CHIRALCEL OZ – cellulose tris (3-chloro-4-methylphenylcarbamate) chiral selector
Features
- Widest selection of original coated polysaccharide phases
- Some strong solvents, such as tetrahydrofuran, dichloromethane and chloroform may damage coated phases
- Traditional 10 µm, high resolution 5 µm and ultra-fast 3 µm particle sizes
- Various size of column dimensions to allow scale-up from analytical to preparative
- Comprehensive screening strategies available for carrying out custom method development in-house
- CHIRALPAK AD, CHIRALPAK AS, CHIRALCEL OD, and CHIRALCEL OJ forms the most effective set of coated columns for use as a primary screening set
- For new method developments it is recommended to use Daicel immobilised phases due to their greater stability
