SiELC SHARC 1 HPLC Columns
All pictures shown are for illustration purpose only. Actual product may vary.
The SHARC 1 column from SiELC is the inaugural member of the SHARC series where separation is primarily based on hydrogen bonding. SHARC is an acronym for Specific Hydrogen-bond Adsorption Resolution Chromatography. A wide range of molecules with a functional group containing oxygen and nitrogen can be retained and separated from similar compounds using SHARC technology.
The operational conditions for the SHARC 1 column are unique. A blend of acetonitrile, a weak solvent, and methanol, a strong solvent, is used as the mobile phase. Pure acetonitrile forms very insignificant hydrogen bonds with the SHARC stationary phase, while methanol interacts strongly, reducing the retention of analytes based on its capacity to form hydrogen bonds. By altering the solvent ratio, an optimal retention profile can be achieved for a wide range of molecules, offering high selectivity, peak shape, efficiency, and speed.
Features
- Acetonitrile/methanol mixture has 2-3 times lower viscosity than water/methanol or water/acetonitrile mixtures allowing use of faster methods without increasing the working pressure
- Combination of methanol and acetonitrile allows good solubility for almost any molecule with high or low polarity
- Solvent system is suitable for preparative chromatography and low viscosity mobile phase allows higher throughput
- Compatible with LC-MS
- Isocratic methods can be used due to high selectivity of the column and this allows recycling of the mobile phase to minimise solvent consumption
- Resolution of molecules of similar nature such as isomers, related impurities, products of oxidation or reduction can be achieved
- Practically any molecule with a functional group which contains oxygen and nitrogen can be retained and separated from similar compounds
- Guard columns connect directly to columns and do not require any additional holders
