Porvair Assay Plates

Porvair assay plates are specifically designed for absorbance, fluorescence, and luminescence applications and are available in 24, 96 or 384 well formats. The plates are made from pure polystryrene for low background to enhance the accuracy and sensitivity of results. The plates are moulded in either clear, black, or white colours and are available with solid bottoms, or assembled with clear polystyrene, glass, quartz or COC bases. These can then be further treated to create specific surface characteristics for cell culture or assay applications.

- For top reading instruments use a solid white plate for absorbance measurements and solid black plate for fluorescence readings
- For bottom reading instruments use clear bottomed plates
- Visible wavelength range (900 - 350 nm) measurements require clear plastic bases
- Readings between 220 - 350 nm require a UV-transparent material such as quartz or cyclo-olefin co-polymer (COP/COC)
- Optical glass sheet is used where visible range detection is combined with confocal optics or whole plate imaging
- Manufactured from polystyrene with no additives
- Flat bottoms give high surface areas, round bottoms for good mixing, or V-wells for high liquid recovery
