GERSTEL Automated Solvent Handling

For running automated high throughput applications overnight or over the weekend, in many cases large volumes of solvents must be available. Therefore, GERSTEL developed the Solvent Filling Station SFS3 for the MultiPurpose Sampler MPS. Solvents can easily be loaded at the Solvent Filling Station which also provides an additional waste position connected to a large waste container.The SFS 3 option allows the use of large amounts of solvent with the MultiPurposeSampler. With the SFS 3 option you can store up to 4 solvents of 1 liter each on the MPS and remove them from a solvent cell without air bubbles. Thanks to the large solvent capacity, the SFS 3 option is particularly suitable for applications that require large amounts of solvent, such as solid phase extraction or liquid-liquid extraction . The system is controlled using the MAESTRO software. There you can nest all sample preparation steps to save time.

How the SFS 3 option works

Each solvent is connected to a locked solvent cell. To remove the solvent, the solvent cell is unlocked magnetically. The MPS guides the syringe needle into the solvent cell and draws up the required amount of solvent. Additional solvent flows in automatically and can be drawn up immediately. The solvent can be used for rinsing the syringe or for addition steps. The system is sealed to the outside throughout the entire removal process. You can integrate the sampling step at any point in the sample preparation.

Advantages

The SFS 3 option is characterized by its large solvent capacity. You can use 2 SFS 3 on one system and thus have access to up to 8 solvents. Thanks to the special solvent cell, the MPS can also draw up large amounts of solvent without air bubbles. Solvent waste can be collected separately according to its chemical properties and then disposed of in an environmentally friendly and cost-effective manner. A system without a septum prevents septum particles from being punched out and being carried over. With the MAESTRO software you can control the entire system easily and intuitively.
