Imtakt Scherzo SM-C18 columns belong to the Scherzo family of mixed-mode columns with reversed phase, anion exchange, cation exchange, and normal phase functionalities. By varying the chemistry of the anion and cation exchange functional groups, and the density of each group on the silica surface, three subtly different but complementary columns were developed.
The Scherzo SM-C18 column has a moderate surface coverage of weak anion exchange (WAX) and weak cation exchange (WCX) functional groups, resulting in a lower ionic character that can be further modulated by varying mobile phase pH. It is effective at separating acidic and basic compounds at neutral pH.
