Agilent HP-PLOT Al2O3 GC Columns

Agilent J&W HP-PLOT Al2O3 KCl is the least polar alumina phase and is deactivated with KCl. It is the standard column choice for light hydrocarbon analysis, particularly C1 – C8 hydrocarbon isomers. It is excellent for quantitation of dienes, especially propadiene and butadiene from ethylene and propylene streams.

Agilent J&W HP-PLOT Al2O3 S is the middle polarity alumina phase and is deactivated with sodium sulfate. It is the standard column choice for light hydrocarbon analysis, particularly C1 – C8 hydrocarbon isomers. It is excellent for resolving acetylene from butylene and isobutane.

Agilent J&W HP-PLOT Al2O3 M is the most polar alumina phase and is deactivated by a proprietary method. It is a good general use column for light hydrocarbon analysis for C1 – C8 hydrocarbon isomers. It is good for resolving acetylene from butane and propylene from isobutane.

A 7 inch cage is the most common GC column format, compatible with Agilent 5890, 6890, 7820, 7890, 8860, and 8890 series GC systems, and all non-Agilent GC systems with a similarly sized oven. The 5 inch cage format is designed for smaller GC ovens e.g. for the Agilent GC 6850.
